Captain: The captain is the leader of one of the 13 squads. They are all able to utilize the bankai ability, and must have a distinct skill. They are the ones who usually assign missions to the shingami of their squads, and only take action when things get serious. How Captains lead there sqauds though, is up to them, for the most part.

Must have 18 good paragraphs of history.

LIEUTENANT/Vice Captain: Lutenits also usually have superior skill, compared to the other Shinigami. They act as the right hand man/woman, to the leader, or captain of the squad. They often lead dangerous missions, but are also quite reserved for more serios matters. Can also activate Bankai.

Must have 14 good paragraphs of history.

Officer: Officers are picked depending upon who the strongest of their squad is. They are almsot matching in skill with the Lutenit, but not quite. Their skill is more equivilant to a regular shinigami, but a little tougher. They lead regular missions, like hollow hunts.

Must have 10 good paragraphs of history.

Shinigami: Regular Shinigami is what keeps the soul society afloat. They're like the soldiers in battle, or the employees in the restaurant. They can work their way up in rank, but can not yet activate bankai at this stage.
Must have 6 good paragraphs of history.

Shinigami in training: These are the newly accepted members to Sereitei. They are not yet part of the 13 squads, but aim to become to.
